Maryland Unemployment Insurance Modernization - BEACON project

The MW Consortium Unemployment Insurance Modernization project, Reemployment BEACON, is a partnership between the Maryland Department of Labor  and Workforce West Virginia to modernize the unemployment insurance system and create a state-of-the-art solution to provide unemployment programs and services. The Consortium’s goals for the new system are to:

1. Improve customer service
2. Eliminate manual, labor-intensive processes
3. Increase data accuracy
4. Improve security and privacy
5. Allow real time data sharing
6. Apply common technical standards
7. Improve maintenance and support
